Healthy doesn’t have to be hard

Happy first of December!

November just passed me by in a blur! It wasn’t really the best month for me, but I’m trying to see it all in a positive light, so this post is inspired by my challenges and trying to balance life altogether.

For starters: working 9-5 = hardly any time to get a workout in. Getting enough sleep is already a struggle. So how? Lose control over your body and just let life take its course?

I know what it’s like to be so tired from a long day’s work that all you want to do is eat, shower and sleep. Thats why my first advice is to work out before your day even starts.

You can feel like you accomplished absolutely nothing throughout the day but that 15 minute morning workout will make you feel SO productive. It makes a huge difference once you do this regularly. You’ll feel fresh, confident and ready to take on whatever happens during the day. Getting to this habit changed my life, but it wasn’t easy to discipline myself to wake up at first. Below are some tips to help you out.

Tip #1: Set multiple alarms (and make them fun) to motivate you to wake up.

If you’re not a morning person, you’ll have a harder time cultivating this habit. I snooze all five of my alarms but when I get to the last one and it says ‘You better work bitch’, I’m officially awake.

Tip #2 Lay out your workout clothes for the next day

When I don’t do this, I spend 10 minutes finding a sports bra that I forgot I must have washed. You don’t want to waste time and end up late for work.

Tip #3 Make sure you have something to eat before and after the workout

If you’re anything like me (always hungry every morning), then I recommend having half a banana and a bit of tea/coffee before you begin working out. Right after your workout, you can indulge in the real deal! You deserve it!

So what kind of workout fits you best?

I like my 15 minutes to be as intense as possible but if you can’t manage one or just don’t have enough time, I also recommend stretching it out in the morning too. Whatever works for you! Just get that body moving.

If you want something more intense, this is my routine below:

Warm Up (2 minutes)

30s Jumping Jacks

30s Push Ups

30s Jump Squats

30s Normal Squats

30s Mountain Climbers

Side plank with a hug ~ do 10 each side!

Cool Down and stretch it out (2 minutes)

I love this because it gets my heart rate up and I feel that adrenaline high.
